ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties



  1. Insert correct lens into the correct side of frame (right and left lens)
  2. Ensure that lenses are the correct size and fit into frame
  3. Ensure that any special beveling needs are met for each individual Rx
  4. Properly align frame by bending with fingers and/or tools
  5. Verify the axis on all multi-focal lenses
  6. Make sure all lenses are cosmetically acceptable
  7. Align bifocals and progressives to make sure they are straight across
  8. Briefly inspect frames for defects or broken parts
  9. FRAME ALIGNMENT=All new frames should have a correct four-point touch. Temples and front should be square. Spring hinge frames are satisfactory if slightly bent in. Front wrap should be minimal unless by design of frame. Pad arms should be bent at equal distance. There should be no bridge twist or co-plainer. Temples should close evenly.
  10. All screws must be tight. No "V" in eye wire. Check for sealed eye wear instructions.



Secondary Duties



  1. Crosstrain in other positions and help in other areas of department when needed
  2. Remove eyewire screws from ophthalmic frames to facilitate insertion of edged lenses



QUALIFICATIONS

Education



  • High School Diploma or GED



Experience



  • One year of Lab experience helpful



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Must be able to read Prescriptions
  • Able and willing to work as a team
  • Must be able to work Overtime and Saturdays when needed
  • Able to read and write English Language well
  • Have good eyesight, had/eye coordination, manual dexterity, attention to detail and patience
  • Work without supervision
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistent at work and on time



Physical Requirements



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and use tools provided to complete his/her work. The employee is frequently required to stand and/or sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.



Safety Requirements



  • Basic understanding of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and the Hazard Communication Program
  • Closed toe shoe required with heel support
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must wear safety glasses and gloves or fingercots
