Duration: 4 Months to Long term

Shift: 08:00 am- 04:00 pm (M-F)

Hours/week: 40 Hours/week

Pay Rate Range: $70/hr.- $75/hr.

Job Description:


  • Searching for a family or adult-gerontology nurse practitioner licensed to work in Ohio with at least one year of working NP experience in a primary care setting or hospital medicine to provide on-site primary care services on a full-time basis to the female population at this correctional facility. Schedule is weekdays only (no evenings, weekends, or holidays).


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance.
  • Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows.
  • Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions
  • Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly.
  • Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate.
  • With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary.
  • Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled.
  • Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable.
  • Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO.
  • Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters.
  • Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance.


Requirement:

  • Healthcare-professional level CPR certification.
  • Ohio Medical License.
  • ANCC Certificate.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration certification.
