DATA ANALYTICS MANAGER Department of Children's Services Central Office Operations Division Nashville, TN Salary: $7,384.00 - $9,601.00 per month Closing Date: 04/07/2025

Job Overview:

  • Designs data analytical strategies, strategic plan of key programs, and quality review for essential reports prior to deliveries.
  • Manages data analytics staff and maintains stakeholder relationships within agency, external agency partners, contractors and vendors.
  • Utilizes complex statistical software applications for queries and analytics in SQL, SAS, Tableau, and other languages in addition to conducting advanced data procedures, analyses, and advanced statistical methods.
  • Presents information and communicates the interpretation of findings to key stakeholders and agency senior leadership and executive levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee team of data analysts providing regular communication and processing of routine data requests quickly and accurately, including receiving, reviewing, and assigning data requests coming from internal and external partners.
  • Communicate with users and other stakeholders to clarify and refine requests/questions.
  • Provide day-to-day management of staff to ensure effective operations of departmental activities.
  • Identify obstacles, problem solve, and implement procedural improvements.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and strategies for staff professional development.
  • Write SAS, R, and/or Python programs and SQL queries to extract and manipulate data to answer the specific question at hand, and perform descriptive, predictive, and inferential statistical analyses.
  • Conceptualize, supervise, assign, review, deliver and/or complete data mining and other special analytic projects.
  • Work with directors and HR liaisons to ensure staff recruiting and on-boarding, time management, performance management, and professional development processes occur following agency and State of Tennessee requirements and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative or related discipline (i.e., statistics, applied statistics, mathematics, biostatistics, economics, epidemiology, computer science, social or behavioral sciences, health sciences, business, or other related field) and 3 or more years of relevant professional work experience.

Or

  • a bachelor's degree in a quantitative or related discipline and 6 or more years of relevant professional work experience.

Or

  • 12 or more years of relevant professional work experience.

Or

  • an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
