Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The System Administration Manager is responsible for leading and managing the end user computing environment, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and related system administration functions within the organization. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation, security, and support of all end user devices, virtual desktops, and backend systems. The manager will oversee a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities. Key responsibilities include managing the deployment and maintenance of end user devices, application packaging, ensuring the stability and performance of the VDI environment, and overseeing system administration tasks such as server management, network configuration, and security compliance. The manager will also collaborate with other departments to align IT services with business needs, develop and implement IT policies and procedures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall IT service delivery. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality IT support to end users.

Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of wireless network configurations and limitations related to a clinical environment
  • Thorough understanding of infrastructure management such as (Azure) Active Directory, SCCM/Endpoint Manager, MDM (Airwatch, Intune) Group Policies, Hypervisor platforms, remote application deployment, and incident management.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with internal and/or external customers
  • Prior experience supporting clinical end users in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Previous supervisory work experience
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Must carry a pager/phone and provide on-call support for IT related issues
  • Knowledge of system architecture and file structures for development, maintenance, and enhancement tasks for system maintenance.
  • Knowledge of operating system internals, file systems, functions of hardware components, and how hardware and software components work together to form a computer system
  • Extensive understanding of the full Microsoft 365 Suite
  • Extensive understanding of VDI platforms and infrastructure.
  • Experience with running projects and maintaining communication with various vendors and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated experience working as a project manager / lead.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • 5+ years of desktop support experience in a networked business environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of thin client related technologies
  • Working knowledge of application virtualization and user experience/profile abstraction.
  • Must be willing to participate in 24 hour on-call rotations
  • ITIL Foundation v3 or higher
  • Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution
