What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead the project to build a new factory and develop quality into a new energy storage program. This position will be the business process development lead for quality engineering; you will develop, maintain, and lead the advanced quality planning implementation, tools and business processes to help the quality manufacturing team execute faster, gain cross-functional alignment, and elevate our ability to deliver highly efficient manufacturing systems and infra structure. This requires you to be extremely detail oriented and drive the cross-functional teams to execute quickly at high quality. You will aim to make our team efficient and effective while helping to define a clear path for quality manufacturing. Managing the schedules, budget, and resources of projects at Tesla requires an individual who is passionate about our mission, has a bias for action, and is focused on collaborative solutions. This role will be based out of the Greater Houston Area (TX) and will require 90% travel to the Bay Area (CA) to support early builds and validation support for the next 6-12 months.
What You'll Do
- Develop, maintain, and lead business processes (workflows, cross-functional reviews, etc.)
- Lead phased gate reviews with global cross-functional teams and suppliers
- Develop trackers for engineering tasks and provide progress updates
- Work with cross-functional teams to define, track, and forecast resource requirements
- Prepare content for leadership reporting, highlight critical issues, and define mitigation strategies
- Provide technical leadership and project management skills to identify creative & timely solutions to key program challenges
- Manage multiple Quality projects roadmaps
- Develop and execute standard practices/templates for handover strategy between commissioning, validation and mass production
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in a mix of engineering and project management fields
- Ability to define and execute a project using project management techniques/tools
- Extensive experience working in JIRA and developing workflows
- Gate review process or similar experience
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage/influence large teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in new product introduction
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing is a plus
- Must be detail oriented, effectively handle multiple priorities, have a strong quality mindset and have the ability to meet tight deadlines
