Job Description Role Title Capital Project Development Team - Cost Manager Work Location Clearlake, TX or Charlotte, NC Role Description: Albemarle is seeking a Cost Manager to establish and maintain the capital project budget, providing accurate cost forecasts, leading project change and risk management activities. Candidate must be experienced with managing portfolio of small to medium projects as well as leading cost activities at Mega Projects with Total Installed Cost (TIC) >$200MM. A candidate needs to understand strategic and tactical steps for building Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long-Range Plan (LRP) and in this role supporting Sr. Director Portfolio Planning in leading it across entire company. A successful candidate must have experience with templates, tools, and Owner team staffing for implementation in this environment. Knowledge of Spanish in addition of English is a plus. Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to Albemarle's safety culture and Core Values.
- Provide development, leadership, oversight, advice, and guidance to projects for cost controls activities.
- Lead cost activities for Large and Early Stages Mega Projects within Albemarle Capital Projects portfolio
- Accountable for developing predictable cost forecast validated within internal and industry benchmarks to ensure project competitiveness.
- Coordinates development of a quality project controls deliverables to support forecasting activities from Business Planning to Operate Stage (FEL0 through Project Completion) including Owner's and Contractor activities
- Assist Sr. Director, Portfolio Planning and Controls in leading Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long Range Plan (LRP) in leading these programs across Albemarle
- Support ongoing planning definition process, specifically though establishing milestone targets, effective deadline management and resource allocations.
- Continuous review and assessment of project progress to preserve cost delivery and provide accurate updates to Albemarle Management.
- In coordination with senior management, reviewing financial data for projects on a regular basis to identify trends and variances, challenges, risks, and opportunities, and track Key Project Indicators (KPIs)
- Develop, review, and maintain a Change Management program ensuring project changes (i.e. design, construction, etc.) are controlled in accordance with corporate policies and practices.
- Support Lessons Learned program and implement based on industry experience and best practices.
- Develop Power BI dashboards to effectively communicate project information.
- Establish and support the implementation of the Albemarle standard cost control systems within global EPC/CM firms and internal Engineering groups.
- Maintain liaison with local and corporate internal procurement, contracts, financial and leadership teams to ensure alignment on corporate strategy and goals.
- Development of a suite of project portfolio performance measurement reports for project stakeholders and executive leadership team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering, Construction Sciences, Mechanical, Chemical or related field.
- 15+ years of experience of project controls experience on large projects (>$200M) in the Chemical and Petrochemical industry.
- Extensive experience in all aspects of cost engineering during FEED and detail engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Ability to lead global and diversified professional team within an Owner's organization.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization to influence and achieve desired results.
- Ability to liaise and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability understanding technical information and communicate progress to internal and external stakeholders (i.e. technical and management).
- Strong organization skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in project controls tools and work processes - MS Office, MS Project, Power BI, SAP
Preferred:
- Knowledge of Spanish in addition to English is a plus
