THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a candidate to fill a Clerical Assistant 2 position at the Bethlehem Headquarters. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, the Clerical Assistant 2 will perform a variety of general clerical duties required for the operation of the Troop Administrative Office, Troop M. Prepares various correspondence and reports and proofreads documents to ensure they are completed in a grammatically correct manner that is consistent with department regulations. Schedules Hearings for station personnel and reviews and submits documentation for the District Attorney and Magisterial Offices in preparation for trial. Enters approved work schedules into SAP Shift Planner, including assigned shifts, court and other appointments, prescheduled leave, sick leave, and scheduled days off.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is not eligible for telework.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Two years or more of experience using Microsoft Word.
  • Two years or more of experience with preparing and formatting various correspondence, forms, and reports.
  • Two years or more of experience proofreading and editing various types of materials to ensure grammatical correctness and completeness.
  • Two years or more of experience working in a position that requires maintaining, updating and purging files.
  • Two years or more of experience maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and logs.
  • Two years or more of experience ordering supplies and services.
  • Two years or more of experience processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Two years or more of experience utilizing various office equipment such as a personal computer, copying machine, facsimile machine, and postage meter.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • One year or more of experience using SAP.

Legal Requirements:
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

This position is subject to the promotion provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
