Job Duties

  • 90% - Computational biology
  • 10% - Molecular biology, including preparation of DNA samples for sequencing
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • The incumbent needs to be able to program in the UNIX shell (bash) and be familiar with high-performance computing.
  • The incumbent must commit and maintain code in a Git/GitHub repository and use Markdown to document their work.
  • A willingness to implement new analytical tools and data types is also essential. Familiarity with concepts in population and evolutionary genetics is also helpful.
  • The ability to take feedback and revise code and procedures is also essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Python programming experience is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with current DNA sequencing platforms and their error profiles is desirable.
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology procedures and the use of equipment such as the Oxford Nanopore sequencing system is desirable.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
