Responsibilities
Essential Functions: Howmet Aerospace Structures - Savannah Operations is seeking a Machine Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our machining department. This individual will be responsible for managing the machining processes, leading a team of operators and technicians, ensuring efficient production, and maintaining high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, leadership experience, and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage machining operations to ensure optimal performance, including machining processes, setup, and maintenance.
- Oversee and supervise a team of machinists, and technicians, providing guidance, training, and development.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Manage production workflows, monitor machine performance, and optimize processes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, implement corrective actions, and enforce adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work closely with the engineering and quality departments to resolve any technical issues and improve machining processes.
- Identify areas for continuous improvement and lead initiatives to streamline operations, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
- Manage the maintenance and repair of machinery, ensuring all equipment is operating at peak performance.
- Analyze production data and generate reports to track performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, tooling, and supplies to ensure adequate stock and prevent production delays.
- Maintain and update documentation related to production processes, quality control, and maintenance procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
basic qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment, with 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC operations, and equipment maintenance.
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing production challenges.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and quality control processes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
