- Nearest metropolitan area: Raleigh-Durham, NC
- Full-time staff: 33
- Expected number of AmeriCorps members: 6
- Number of homes to be built: 20
- Activities and attractions: Beaches and the Atlantic coast are 2.5 hours to the east, and the Blue Ridge mountains are 3 hours to the west! Chapel Hill is a thriving college town with a plethora of amenities. In addition, Raleigh and Durham, NC are within a 20-30 minute drive from our office. Both areas offer an even wider variety of amenities and attractions including and extensive collection of historic sites, museums and parks. There is always something to do in the area!
- Unique projects: Our volunteer recruitment is primarily focused on our latest development: Weavers Grove. This includes everything from checking in volunteers and conducting orientations, to maintaining equipment and tidying up at the end of the day. In the office, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator will help with a wide variety of administrative tasks ranging from scheduling and communications to program development and event support. Life in this position is never dull, and by the end of their service, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator will have developed a robust set of skills that will serve them well in virtually any context!
