THE JOB: The Entertainment Technician Stagehand is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems related to various stagecraft disciplines, including carpentry, lighting, audio, and props for one of Las Vegas' most iconic shows: Tournament of the Kings. This role requires supporting live performances by ensuring all technical aspects run smoothly and efficiently, particularly during fast-paced set changes and demanding show conditions. All tasks must be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures, while upholding the safety and artistic standards of the production. STARTING RATE:$38.55 an hour THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Lifting, moving, and assembling heavy set pieces quickly, sprinting between cues, and working in challenging conditions, such as dirt-filled environments. Performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs of staging equipment and carpentry elements, as assigned, or approved per track. Assisting with the setup and teardown of special events, which may include large structures and complex scenic elements. Managing, handling, and cleaning up after live animals, such as horses, to ensure a safe and sanitary stage environment between shows. Running cue tracks across multiple disciplines, including audio, electronics, fly systems, follow spots, lighting, stage carpentry, and props. Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external guests, including MGMRI, our resident show partner, and talent booked into the theater. Ensuring the Artistic Vision set by the Talent/Artist is upheld, following MGMRI and Department Guidelines, while collaborating across departments to maintain creative integrity.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent educational experience. 3+ years of prior relevant experience working in live shows, technical theater, and/or showrooms, ideally in a college or resort setting. Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and all major holidays. OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe. Proven experience in stage carpentry, including the construction, assembly, and maintenance of set pieces and scenic elements is preferred. Experience in lighting design, rigging, and wardrobe support is a plus, enhancing versatility in live theater production.
