UCF Health - Student Health Services (SHS):

UCF Health - Student Health Services (SHS) provides various primary and specialty care services to help keep students, faculty and staff at their optimum health. The Health Center is located on the Main Campus. Our services are designed with students, faculty and staff needs in mind. Become a part of our committed UCF Student Health Team as a Custodial Specialist II and deliver outstanding care to our community.

The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Academic Health Sciences Center (AHSC) Student Health Services (SHS) is seeking qualified candidates for a Custodial Specialist II position. The SHS Custodial Specialist II position will provide non-clinical support at UCF Student Health Services-Main Campus. While working under the supervision of the Facilities Specialist II, this position will be responsible for routine housekeeping or custodial assignments in Student Health Services involving cleaning and minor maintenance.

Responsibilities:


  • Maintain presentable appearance throughout SHS, Pods and exam rooms. Prepare all cleaning supplies at the beginning of the shift. Clean all stools, front and sides of desk, all chairs, examining table, and sinks with disinfectant. Clean cords and lamps with all purpose cleaner.

  • Spot clean walls and doors with all-purpose cleaner, clean soiled areas with disinfectant. Restock all antibacterial hand soap and paper towel dispensers. Clean door handles and push plates. Vacuum air vents weekly.

  • Dust and mop pods and exam room areas. Empty all trash baskets, reline with fresh liner. Wet mop all areas with disinfectant. Decontaminate with the UV device located on each floor when needed.

  • Clean restrooms throughout the day. Empty wastebaskets, reline with fresh liner. Spot clean, wall and soiled areas with disinfectant. Clean sinks, toilet seats and outside of the toilet area with disinfectant. Clean mirrors with glass cleaner. Restock soap, tissue paper, and paper towels. Sweep floor, and mop with disinfectant.

  • Offices: Empty wastebaskets, reline with fresh liner. Dust twice a week. Clean glass surfaces. Spot clean walls and doors with all-purpose cleaner. Wipe down and straighten chairs. Vacuum twice a week.

  • All common areas floors: Dust and mop surface floors and wet mop with disinfectant. Vacuum carpeted areas. Sweep and mop stairwells with all-purpose cleaner, and clean rails with disinfectant. Clean water fountains with disinfectant. Clean door handles and push plates with disinfectant.

  • Building Exterior: Sweep or blow walkways, clean trash away from entrances, and clean windows and sliding doors. Bio-hazard Waste: collect bio-hazard waste from treatment areas, bagged in a red bag or contained in sharp containers. Transport bio-hazard waste to the designated areas. Place bio-hazard waste in the special cardboard box.

  • Clean up spills immediately, decontaminate the area with disinfectant. Put the mop head and cleaning cloths in red bags.

  • Transport bio-hazard waste to designated area. Handle bio-hazard waste accordingly. Other duties assigned by the department supervisor or designee. Timely completion of all required university, AHSC, and SHS trainings.


Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of 9th grade and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6). Click here for more information

  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team to complete work tasks and/or projects.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience in a higher education setting.


Health Assessment Required:

The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

  • This is an auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to funding availability and may cease when funding for this employment is depleted.

  • This is a time-limited funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

  • This is a part-time position for 25 hours per week.

  • This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay of the pay range minimum.
