This posting is for two full-time, overtime eligible positions in Admissions on the Olympia Campus of The Evergreen State College. These positions are exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules. |
Position Purpose |
Counsel prospective students and inform educators and parents about the college and its available educational opportunities, and assist in attracting and maintaining a diverse student body consistent with the college's goals and objectives.
Advise students and families in groups or individual sessions, answering correspondence, participating in events/functions sponsored by the Office of Admissions or other college offices, answering phone inquiries, reviewing applications for admission, and representing the Office of Admissions to internal and external audiences. |

Essential Functions |
- Provide admissions counseling information about the college, include, but is not limited to, academic advising, financial aid, scholarships, campus housing, and student life to prospective students in the office and in the field via written correspondence, in person, e-mail, or by telephone.
- Leverage the CRM (Hobson's Radius) to inform recruitment activity.
- Actively engage in outreach and recruitment efforts to ensure that our applicant pool is reflective of the broader diverse society; create and develop partnerships with organizations and schools that serve underrepresented communities and provide resources to help potential students from those communities navigate the admissions process.
- Take responsibility for an assigned recruitment territory that may include local, regional, and/or national travel.
- Represent the college by conducting public presentations at college fairs, Preview Day, college information sessions, and other activities as required.
- Develop follow-up plans to maintain contact with prospective student contacts to achieve application, admission, and enrollment goals.
- Relate well with others who represent different cultural, race/ethnicity, physical and learning ability, and socio-economic background from the employee.
- Coordinate recruitment efforts with director.
- Work independently for long weeks at a time while traveling and covering territory assignments.
- Work collaboratively with the Admissions Office and other departments on campus to reach enrollment goals.
- Provide in-office admissions support through small/large group presentations, campus tours, one-on-one meetings with prospective students and their friends and family, and cover the front desk.
- Some evening and weekend work as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.

- Two years of experience in higher education in admissions, financial aid, student advising, employment, social services, etc., or equivalent experience.
- Experience promoting interdisciplinary education.
- Experience working with diverse communities and underrepresented populations.
- Experience with Hobson's Radius or other CRM.
- Familiarity with a language other than English is preferred (for example, bilingual ability such as speaking Spanish).

Conditions of Employment |
- Must provide proof of identity and employment eligibility within three days of beginning work.
- This position is part of a bargaining unit and covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
- Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- Prior to an official offer of employment, a Declaration Regarding Sexual Misconduct form must be submitted to the college per RCW 28B.112.080. The college will contact current and past employers to verify this information. Applicants who provide inaccurate information in their declaration will be disqualified and, if the inaccuracies are discovered after the applicant has been hired, it shall be grounds for termination.
- Must meet the eligible driver requirements: 1) Valid U.S. driver's license, 2) 18 years old or older, 3) Two or more years of fully licensed driving experience, and 4) Clean driving record with none of the following within the past 2 years: Any suspension/revocation of license for reckless driving, hit and run, leaving an accident scene, failure to appear, DUI or other vehicle-related felony; or for multiple traffic offenses (2 moving violations/infractions in 12 months/3 moving violations/infractions in 24 months) resulting in a Conditional Status driving record or subsequent suspension/revocation of license.
- Must be able to work evening and weekend hours on- and off- campus.
- Must remain in compliance with Evergreen's Travel Policy and/or eligible driver requirements.
- Must be able to travel extensively including extended travel, multiple week trips, and overnight trips.
- Must be able to move materials such as catalogues, brochures, and display equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
