Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
In service of the University's mission, The Friday Center works with units to support the development of digital programs and pedagogies, as well as other flexible and/or nontraditional learning experiences. We offer a variety of credit and professional (i.e., non-credit) programs through our unit and also provide support for programs across the University. In support of these programs, we provide strategy, coordination, and services to meet program needs, including but not limited to marketing, recruitment, program/course design and development, conference and event planning and support, and student/participant support. Through our programs and services, The Friday Center extends access to education for participants across the state and beyond and enables campus units to expand, share, and collaborate through support for their own research and educational programs. |
Position Summary |
The Friday Conference Center at UNC-Chapel Hill provides modern meeting spaces and exceptional event services for a variety of educational purposes, from large conventions and banquet receptions to small seminars and professional development workshops. The Friday Conference Center is a part of The Friday Center, UNC-Chapel Hill's dedicated resource for digital, flexible, and nontraditional learning. This position is responsible for supporting client inquiries and correspondence, coordinating internal logistics, managing the team's reservation system, providing training to teams on the reservation system and templates, reporting, billing/invoicing, and ensuring the smooth delivery of conference and event services. The Reservation Coordinator works closely with service teams to develop and maintain training materials, conduct training sessions, and provide ongoing support to ensure that all team members are proficient in using the reservation system and billing/invoicing procedures. The Reservation Coordinator is also responsible for managing reservation systems, tracking deadlines, and providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders to ensure that events run smoothly. The Reservation Coordinator must be able to communicate effectively with clients, service teams, and stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of conference and event services are managed efficiently. They will work closely with clients to manage inquiries and correspondence, develop proposals, and provide exceptional customer service. The Reservation Coordinator will also coordinate internal logistics, such as managing reservation systems, tracking deadlines, and providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
-Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
-Experience in event planning or event production within the hospitality industry.
-Familiarity with reservation software systems such as Events Management System (EMS). |
