Position Summary

Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of facility.

Essential Functions



  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  • Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
  • Power wash showers, floors and walkways and building entrances.
  • Use protective equipment when necessary and follow safety procedures.
  • Communicate with staff and residents in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain and upkeep maintenance shop for inventories on parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Be available for emergency on-call.
  • Must be open to working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have excellent organization and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and prioritize workloads.


PAY RATE: $18.00-$21.00/hr.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications



  • At least three (3) years previous janitorial experience, specifically working in fast-paced environment and be available for emergency on-call.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision
  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPR and First Aid certification a must.
  • TB-cleared prior to start date.

  • Must have good diagnostic skills and be able to perform minor building repairs.

  • Positive attitude and willing to learn new skills.
  • Meet deadlines, work with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both clients and staff in a professional, respectful manner.

Education
High School or Equivalent (required)
Experience
TB-cleared prior to start date. (required)
