Join our dynamic team as a Flight Safety Systems Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the xEMU Project Management & Stystems Engineering section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract. Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire. **International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available** Duties And Responsibilities Some of your major responsibilities will include: * Function as an EPDC Subject Matter Expert (SME), working in conjunction with the EPDC System Managers in the JSC Engineering Directorate, supporting the Payload Safety Review Panels (PSRP), Safety Review Panel (SRP), ISS and Visiting Vehicle Safety Review Panels, and Vehicle Configuration meetings as required. * Review Safety Data Packages (SDP), Hazard Reports (HRs), Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs), and technical data submittals to determine technical compliance against the human spaceflight flight safety requirements for the International Space Station Program (ISS). * Provide design consultation and technical hazard assessment support to ISS Payloads, ISS Systems, and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Project organizations for appropriate safety design and as-built hardware requirements. * Attend PSRP, SRP, Working Group, Technical Interchange Meetings, and other meetings as necessary for comment discussion on SDP package reviews. * Perform other duties as required. Qualifications REQUIRED : * A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience. * Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Space Program, present to large groups of Engineers, and compile/condense technical information/data/reviews into understandable and actionable comments for the human space flight community. PREFERRED : * BS degree in electrical/electronic engineering (or similar) from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related experience. * Knowledge of International Space Station (ISS) safety requirements: SSP 30309 - Safety Analysis and Risk Assessment Requirements and SSP 30599 - Safety Review Process. * Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. * Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. * Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
