ROLE DESCRIPTION: The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for supervising maintenance technicians and contractors who install, maintain, and repair industrial processing and manufacturing, utility, and facility equipment and systems. They are also responsible for coordinating maintenance activities to maintain optimal utilization of plant production and utility equipment and for ensuring that all equipment is ready and available to meet the needs of the manufacturing plant. General Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of maintenance technician in accomplishment of day-to-day equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and modifications / improvements.
- Coaches colleagues, provides positive and constructive feedback, gathers input from stakeholders on team, develops team through IDP's, accountable for providing goals and objectives and thus measuring each colleague on their achievement towards these goals.
- Promotes the application of Reliability Based Maintenance concepts in the execution of maintenance work and is the conduit for process improvement.
- Maintains a shop floor presence to address / triage emergency and priority maintenance related calls.
- Communicates status of maintenance activities to Production and Engineering management.
- Provide technical assistance to site operating groups through investigations, equipment assessments, and design support.
- Establish department priorities and participate in the execution of special projects. Prioritize activities based on the criticality of systems to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
- Working Lead, able and willing to provide assistance and troubleshooting by physically being on the production line and completing repairs/installs/updates as needed for especially complex issues.
- Drives alignment and cohesion cross functionally, with a specific focus on engineering and operations, while ensuring a quality mindset, with a focus on GMP requirements.

- Use/follow/adhere to OSHA guidance and regulations to keep colleagues safe and informed.

Maintenance Activities
- Working with the Maintenance Scheduler, reviews requests for equipment repair and services that are submitted through the Computerized Maintenance Management System and assign the work by technical expertise and labor availability.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with site standard operating and department procedures and documented in accordance with current GMP requirements.
- Coordinate the maintenance and support of equipment, to include planning and scheduling department workloads; coordinating resources for planned shutdowns with department and productions areas; responding to non-scheduled utility outages and equipment shutdowns; and recommending improvements to PM and Standard Operating Procedures to maintain equipment reliability.
- Responsible for responding to the maintenance hotline calls and delegating action and work orders (inclusive of potentially owning work orders) as appropriate.
- Performing preventive maintenance, repairs, improvements, and modifications production equipment
- Takes lead in capital project needs, as it pertains to maintenance input/output to ensure compliance to current standards, while providing SME inputs to ensure all requirements are met as budget and scope are defined.
Preventive Maintenance and Calibration
- Assists with work planning to ensure successful completion of GMP designated PM and calibration activities according to due date.
- Provides direction to the maintenance team in the update of PM tasks, parts associated, and labor hours.
Capital Projects
- Assists in completion of capital equipment installation and validation (if required).
- Provide technical expertise in the selection of equipment.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed by maintenance personnel when completing work on assigned capital projects.
- Leadership
- Complete annual performance reviews for direct reports.
- Work with direct reports to establish annual Goals / Objectives and Development Plan.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports to help in colleague growth.
- Address employee performance / deliver corrective actions in conjunction with Department Management and HR.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Leadership in maintenance with 4+ years of experience.
- Journeyman certification (Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Instrumentation) and/or 8 - 10 years maintenance in pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, or equivalent.
- Possess good understanding of the pharmaceutical/bio-technology industry and operations of the organization along with technical proficiency.
- Incumbent should have experience in maintenance planning / scheduling.
- Demonstrated knowledge in relevant technical areas. Strong understanding of GMP manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities.
- Cognizance of the state-of-the-art equipment trends.
- Good communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of the Zoetis organization. Can articulate issues and solutions to the team. Can produce effective project reports and presentations.
- Position requires daily or frequent interaction with Engineering Director, Maintenance Manager, Production Management and Supervision, Engineers, Quality Operations, Maintenance Technicians, Production Operators, Contractors, and Vendors.
- Ability to clearly convey ideas, instructions, or directions.
- Has basic estimating and accounting skills. Understands fundamentals of developing budgets and spending forecasts.
- Analyze problems and provide support in determining appropriate corrective and preventative actions, with minimal assistance.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Prioritizes own work and is flexible and responsive to changes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Colleague could be exposed to airborne particles, including cephalosporin. Must work near moving mechanical parts. Eye protection and other personal protective equipment are required.
