The Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball is responsible for assisting in the management and operation of all aspects of Chicago State University's Division I Men's Basketball program with specific coaching responsibilities as designated by the Head Coach.
Job Description
Primary responsibilities and duties include, among others:
* Coaching specific elements of a Division I Men's Basketball program.
* Recruiting athletically and academically qualified student athletes.
* Organizing, scheduling, and conducting practices on and off-campus.
* Traveling with the team for intercollegiate competitions.
* Providing leadership, commitment, and passion for teaching and competing, and a professional demeanor conducive to the development of student-athletes.
* Maintaining close involvement with academic staff to ensure student-athletes' academic achievement.
* Encouraging student-athletes' commitment to academic excellence.
* Ensuring individual and program compliance with all university, conference and NCAA rules, policies and regulations.
* Assisting Head Coach with implementing a long-term plan for success of the Men's Basketball program.
* May be responsible for direct supervision of specific operational areas or functions within the unit.
* Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
One-year of collegiate or professional coaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
NCAA Division I coaching experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
As a staff member within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the person assuming this position is responsible for knowledge of and compliance with institutional, conference and NCAA rules, both those general in nature and those which apply specifically to their job responsibilities. Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA rules is a condition of employment in this position.
