Talent Acquisition Specialist with a focus on Students

This position is responsible for providing excellent support to University of Minnesota colleges, departments, and community partners hiring undergraduate and graduate students. Primary responsibilities include supporting on-campus and off-campus talent acquisition, advising on student employment policies and recruitment strategies, and planning student employment programs and events for the Twin Cities campus. This position will also provide support with graduate tuition benefit calculations and adjustments and enter detailed information into our HRMS system to ensure the graduate benefit and work-study amounts are accurately reflected in the system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Support - 60%

  • Graduate Assistant Employment - Support colleges and departments hiring graduate assistants at the University of Minnesota.

Administer graduate assistant tuition benefits and related tuition waivers. Enters detailed information into PeopleSoft.
Consult and advise onr graduate assistant employment, related policies, and best practices.
Analyze data and resolve common issues.
Consult with hiring departments on how to best attract graduate students to open positions
Advise students on how to best obtain suitable employment
Advise on labor related inquiries related to posting positions and offer letters
Work closely with central Labor Relations to respond to inquiries related to the union contract.

  • Undergraduate Student Employment - Support colleges and departments hiring undergraduate student workers at the University of Minnesota.

Support on-campus and off-campus student employees by planning and attending new student orientation sessions and student employment-related job fairs.
Recruit and manage current and future external employers participating in the community service programs. This entails managing the work of a student, ensuring alignment with their degree requirements. Ensuring work sites are safe for students.
Recruiting and employment consulting for on-campus students.

Staff and Faculty support - 40%

  • Perform talent acquisition-related administrative work, support recruiters and hiring managers, and provide candidates with status updates.
  • Ensure close collaboration with the hiring manager and other talent acquisition colleagues to enable smooth process handoffs
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of jobs and associated requirements across the university
  • Establish and maintain an effective communication process with hiring managers, from the requisition process through the interview process and to the offer and acceptance stage
  • Escalates complex questions to Talent Acquisition Manager.
  • As an individual contributor, models UMN's dedication to crafting an inclusive work environment and fostering a caring culture

Selection Criteria:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Project and/or event planning experience.
  • Experience working in SalesForce or a similar ticketing system
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Enjoys researching issues and developing a solution.
  • Experience working in PeopleSoft
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four (4) years.

Preferred qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree plus two (2) years working in Human Resources, Financial Aid or a similar discipline.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $58,000 - $60,000.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
