ABOUT THE JOB

This position will be a key role in assigning and maintaining standard costs. Position will be instrumental in assuring accurate product costing for inventory and sales reporting. Position will be required to prepare and enter journal entries, as well as preparing balance sheet account reconciliations as assigned. The Costing Specialist will also provide support for other cost accounting functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Setting Standard Product Costs

    • Accurately assigning standard cost factors to items added or changed.
    • Executing cost rollup and setting the rolled up standard cost for new items.
    • Executing cost rollup, copying cost between branches where existing items are added to additional branches.
    • Calculating and setting accurate LIFO cost for products.
    • Documenting completion and accuracy




  • Cost rolls and maintenance

    • Execute cost rolls, copying cost between branches, as item costs change.
    • Re-costing of manufactured items for ECR changes (engineering change requests).
    • Executing cost rolls for monthly material costing changes.




  • Material Cost Analysis

    • Participate with item price testing in determining and setting average inventory cost.
    • Running and reviewing price testing reports to identify where purchase item costs have changed, prompting a change to the items standard cost.




  • Accounting Tasks

    • Journal entry creation, logging, end entry.
    • GL account reconciliations.
    • Assist in monthly close.
    • Generating and preparing inventory and financial reports.




  • Other Activities as assigned including but not limited to:

    • Cross train and act as backup for other accounting staff as assigned.
    • Provide support and documentation sox audits and quarterly and year-end external audits.
    • Assist the accounting department in other projects as required.




              ABOUT YOU:



              • Degree in Accounting and/or three years of accounting experience demonstrating strong analytical skills, ability to foster cross-functional working relationships, and capacity to handle multiple priorities and projects
              • Cost accounting experience preferred
              • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft applications - Excel, Word
              • JD Edwards and product costing experience preferred
              • Ability to achieve results independently and within a team setting
              • Ability to multitask
              • Strong attention to detail
              • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
              • Strong analytical ability

                Expected Compensation: $55,000-65,000/year. + 5% Bonus Eligibility
