NE Renewable Power is made up of 7 Biomass electric generating power stations located in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. These stations play a crucial role in supplying locally sourced renewable energy to the people of New England.

Our Maintenance Technician (MT) is responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment in the power plant facility. In this role, you will perform the work required in the inspection repair, testing, calibration, and installation of mechanical power plant equipment and systems. Coordinating with the Operations & Maintenance Manager and Electrical/I&C Technician is crucial to ensuring proper supervision and oversight of mechanical maintenance activities conducted by contractors and non-maintenance staff members. This collaborative effort guarantees efficient and effective management of maintenance tasks, enhancing operational reliability and safety. The MT will be called upon to support the Instrument and Electrical Technician as schedule and workload allows and will be expected to support the plant, as requested by the Operations and Maintenance Manager. There will be an immediate focus on transitioning the Tamworth Facility from a higher than acceptably high percentage of Reactive maintenance activities to a Preventative/Predictive maintenance environment.



  • Monitor facility mechanical process proper operation.
  • Monitor and ensure that Reactive Maintenance activities are rectified and documented.
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with mechanical systems components.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance records for mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain inventory control of mechanical spare parts.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating outside contractor work on mechanical equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with common test instruments including vibration monitoring, alignment systems, etc.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading mechanical schematics and diagrams.
  • Participate in company safety training and safety awareness.
  • Installing new mechanical equipment and systems for plant modifications and improvements or supervising Mechanical contractors contracted for site work.
  • Perform Qualify control oversite of Mechanical contract work.
  • Coordinate with Plant Management to maintain "Qualified Man" certifications for all Arc Flash related activities and testing.
  • Maintain equipment inspection records and perform inspections of all major and minor components of the Plants steam and water cycle and all auxiliary systems.


Qualified candidates for this role will have the following:



  • Minimum of High School Graduate or GED certification
  • Experience in the operations and maintenance of a solid fuel power plant
  • Working knowledge or certifications of steam plant operations, electrical and instrumentation or other applicable skill sets/certifications
  • Safety certifications such as Electrical Qualified man, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, etc.
  • Certification or training as a Millwright or Master Mechanic is a plus


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:



  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and can work without direct supervision.
  • Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
  • Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
  • Basic data entry/computer skills


Work Environment: Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.



  • Must have a safety-first mindset and work with others to foster that.
  • Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
  • Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Requires extended working hours, varied shifts or 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
  • Includes working indoors and outdoors.
  • Includes working with high temperature surfaces, high temperature & pressure steam and liquids, and high ambient temperatures

  • Physical requirements include the possibility of working on one's feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds.
  • All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions
