We are seeking a Test Engineering Manager to be responsible for supporting the assembly, testing, and integration of electronic components and assemblies. The Test Engineering Manager is an active, visible hands-on role with the expectation to positively contribute to the performance of the business and build strong relationships.

This is an excellent position for engineers with a background in electrical design and software programming/automation, along with a desire to apply those skills to developing, building, and integrating test systems and platforms for simple to complex test solutions

Key qualifications include a strong background in electrical engineering, experience in reviewing customer performance specifications, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the test engineering team ensuring all development projects meet design, cost and delivery requirements, while designing test methods, systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Review new test requirements and determine appropriate test implementation methods, from simple test setups to fully automated ITA racks with software integration.
  • Design or oversee design for all test setups and fixtures, including burn-in and other electrical testing, including new test strategies for new product development to enable successful customer deliveries.
  • Drive the creation of hardware and software design processes and best practices to enable delivery of high-quality test solutions.
  • Support test engineering specifications and production documentation through MRP.
  • Support all quality systems such as IDR's, MRB's, and all trouble shooting methods as well as customer returns (RMA's), etc. including any failure analysis support.
  • Support all customer inquiries, visits, design reviews, etc. as well as any customer or government or quality organization audits.
  • Work with the facility department for new equipment setups including area layout, power and other service support requirements.
  • Manage team workload, team personnel items such as time off, raises, and HR issues such as time and attendance, etc. as well as team training and cross-training.
  • Distribute workloads to team resources and evaluate employee performance and compensation.
  • Establishes procedures for addressing problems and makes recommendations to management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of test engineering activities and personnel.
  • Review and approve purchase requests.
  • Performing specific tasks and projects that are part of the role, which may be technical or require a unique skillset.



Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience as a test engineer responsible for test development.
  • Industry experience as an engineering supervisor or manager with a track record of success.
  • Test software development or project management.
  • Work with analog equipment - oscilloscopes, power supplies, current probes, function generators, current source, electronic loads etc.
  • Work with digital equipment - data capture, multiplexer, relay control cards
  • Hands on knowledge - Test system ATE boxes, ITA's, back panel interface (Virginia panel would ideal)
  • Interfacing to computer - serial interfaces (USB), RS-485/422; CAN knowledge would be ideal
  • Ability to write C # and debug
  • Ability to write and debug test GUI's
  • Ability to motivate and lead a small team
  • Ability to work on cross functional basis - both with engineering (EE/ME) and line support
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
