Position Description

Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a warehouse andmonitoring the productivityof its staff. Warehouse Supervisors often work in busy environments where priorities can change at a moment's notice, so an ability to multitask is and delegate is essential with this role.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proven experience in production schedules, quality, workflow, safety, managing personnel and equipment within a manufacturing environment
  • Drive continuous improvement supporting department on-time delivery, productivity, quality goals and expectations
  • Manage organization, safety and maintenance of the warehouse
  • Maintain and coordinate all records for the department
  • Conduct training, employee development, performance appraisals and recommend improvements for responsible personnel
  • Manage staff and day-to-day workflows to maintain an efficient department in line with company goals and management expectations
  • Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made
  • Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager
  • Conducts audits of physical inventory
  • Performs physical inventory count
  • Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery
  • Supporting the Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety (QEH&S) policy and strategic direction of the organization
  • Monitors and makes recommendations around employee performance
  • Assures cross training and necessary documentation of the same
  • Maintains required data and records for the work area
  • Reports, tracks, and communicates parts shortages. Confirms shortages are resolved
  • Addresses unplanned downtime of equipment
  • Develops contingency plans to ensure project / plan success
  • Conduct annual performance reviews (PFT) of direct reports
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture through area of responsibility
  • Manage time off requests
  • Makes decisions that are relevant and timely, anticipates the internal and external implications of one's decisions
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities Required

  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors
  • Understanding of inventory control procedures
  • Organized and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Forklift truck license, preferred

Physical requirements

  • Indoor factory setting
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times
  • Must be able to navigate warehouse and reach items both high and low

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical / Business School Certificate, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship or other post high school training is preferred
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in assembly operations with min of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Proven leadership ability, strong people skills (coaching, mentoring, motivation, communication, problem resolution)
  • Understanding of Lean principles and responsibilities
  • Understands the application, tracking, utilization and purpose of key performance indicators (KPI's)
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills
  • Computer literate required with Excel knowledge strongly preferred

Compensation Details

Annual Salary: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00
