ERG is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager to lead and support safety initiatives within our energetics development and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in explosives safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management, with a proven track record of driving safety programs in complex environments. This role will be critical in ensuring full compliance with all applicable safety standards while supporting cross-functional teams in maintaining a safe and sustainable operation.
This position will be at a federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG's Fairfax and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC.

Job Description
  • Develop and implement safety programs and processes to mitigate risks in energetics development and manufacturing.
  • Lead safety assessments, audits, and investigations, providing expert recommendations to minimize hazards.
  • Coordinate and support cross-functional teams to ensure safety and regulatory compliance across all operations.
  • Oversee and manage Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs, including waste management and pollution prevention.
  • Apply knowledge of protective construction principles to enhance facility and personnel safety.
  • Analyze test data and produce comprehensive reports with a focus on risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Interface with government agencies, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with safety regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience in the field of safety.
  • Working knowledge of OP-5: Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore or equivalent safety documentation.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and regulatory frameworks in the energetics and explosives field.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and supporting safety initiatives across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
