Basic Function |
Manage a variety of initiatives including providing oversight of the Annual Fund's class fundraising volunteer programs to secure leadership level and participatory gifts, with a focus on reunion fundraising for classes celebrating Reunions 15-50 and beyond. |
Essential Job Functions |
Alumni Volunteer Fundraising Program Management: 80%
- Lead the management and execution of reunion year peer to peer fundraising initiatives and class giving programs, ensuring successful solicitation and stewardship of alumni donors to reach ambitious participation and revenue goals. Direct efforts to maximize contributions and participation across all class years, particularly focusing on reunions 15-50 and beyond years, and cultivating long-term alumni support.
- Lead and manage Denison's impactful peer to peer solicitation program, empowering alumni to significantly expand class giving across all participation levels. Strategically plan, coordinate, and oversee volunteer activities that drive fundraising success and help reunion committees achieve their full potential.
- Oversee the parent volunteer program and facilitate peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, engaging parents at all levels to actively contribute to the annual giving campaign through direct participation and outreach to their networks.
- Design and maintain comprehensive volunteer training manuals and materials, collaborating with Annual Fund staff to ensure alignment with fundraising strategies and best practices.
- Establish and monitor clear metrics to set, manage, and evaluate volunteer and class engagement goals. Regularly track progress and adjust strategies to maximize impact, serving as a proactive champion for fundraising success.
- Travel regularly to engage volunteers and donors, cultivate relationships, and solicit contributions, ensuring strong donor stewardship and long-term giving growth.
- Collaborate with Major Gift Officers, Annual Fund staff, and Alumni and Family Engagement to recruit, develop, and manage high-performing volunteer leaders and committee members. Foster strong relationships and communicate frequently to ensure coordination and strategy alignment for major donor solicitations.
- Manage and optimize the Volunteer Management System, ensuring efficient assignment of prospects to volunteers and accurate tracking of outreach activities across all classes.
- Serve as a key resource for volunteer and campaign training, ensuring volunteers are equipped to execute a successful annual giving program.
- Provide continuous support to volunteers through regular outreach, including personal visits, email, and phone communications. Cultivate and steward reunion class alumni and donors through targeted engagement strategies.
- Partner with the Advancement Communications and Marketing team to craft and execute compelling marketing strategies for class reunions, events, and fundraising efforts.
- Ensure meticulous attention to detail in managing solicitation reports, creating written strategies with volunteers, and delivering projects within prescribed timeframes. Maintain strong communication with colleagues to keep them informed and engaged with program progress and strategies.
- Oversee and update spreadsheets and/or volunteer management software to effectively track and analyze volunteer recruitment, committee assignments, and donor engagement.
- Maintain an active portfolio of volunteers and reunion donors, proactively cultivating and soliciting them in alignment with annual participation goals.
Event Planning: 15%
- Assist with the planning and execution of the fall Volunteer Summit, collaborating closely with the Office of Alumni and Family Engagement to foster meaningful connections with Annual Fund volunteers.
- Working closely with the office of donor relations and stewardship, develop and execute a high-profile Annual Fund volunteer recognition program, including a leadership reception during special event weekends, to honor outstanding volunteers and leadership donors.
- Organize and implement class-specific engagement activities and events between reunions, working in tandem with Annual Fund and Alumni Engagement staff to build ongoing alumni connection and support.
Other Duties & Expectations: 5%
- Represent Denison at key events such as the Big Red Alumni/Parent Weekend, Commencement, Reunion Weekend, and the Volunteer Summit, ensuring a high level of engagement and visibility for the Annual Fund.
- Collaborate with various College offices to ensure alignment with Denison's broader fundraising goals and objectives.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities, such as presenting at CASE or STAFF conferences, to further Denison's reputation in the field and stay at the forefront of fundraising trends.
- Contribute as a valuable member of the Denison community by attending campus events and meetings, including Faculty meetings and the First-Year Induction Ceremony.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the ongoing success of the Annual Fund program.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Demonstrate experience of at least one year in development or a related field such as Alumni Affairs, Public Affairs, Nonprofit Management or Public Relations.
- Detail oriented, and highly motivated.
- Strong organizational skills; excellent communication skills (oral and written); effectively represent Denison; demonstrated ability to work well with, lead, and train a diverse team of volunteers to reach fundraising goals, and work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to handle confidential material with utmost discretion.
- Travel required.
- Strong Excel skills including filtering, formulas and pivot tables.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Professional or volunteer experience in higher education advancement a plus.
- Experience in reunion campaigns or short-cycle annual fund campaign fundraising, knowledge of the principles and practices which underlie individual giving are preferred.
- Knowledge of Raiser's Edge NXT or other fundraising database management systems preferred.
