Facility Engineer - Grenada

The Facilities Engineer will manage the daily operations of facilities, janitorial services, and outside contractors for a 500,000-square-foot Tier 1 manufacturing facility. This role includes overseeing facilities systems such as electrical switchgear, chiller-style air conditioning systems, pneumatic systems, facilities projects, and contractors while ensuring compliance with National Electrical and Fire Codes. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with project teams on the installation of equipment from sister facilities. The engineer will also maintain the upkeep and own the facility's CAD and MEP files.

Day-to-Day Operations:

  • Oversee and maintain facility infrastructure, including electrical systems (switchgear), HVAC, chiller systems, plumbing and pneumatic systems.
  • Ensure the facility adheres to all National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
  • Manage the design, maintenance, and optimization of pneumatic systems, ensuring correct sizing for efficient operations.
  • Lead efforts to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes through regular inspections and upgrades.
  • Conduct daily and monthly inspections of the facility to assess cleanliness and functionality.
  • Owner and maintaining MEP & CAD file revisions of the entire building and property.
  • Maintain facility health and appearance.

New Manufacturing Line Installation:

  • Lead the installation and design of construction/projects within the facility infrastructure.
  • Ensure all installations comply with electrical, fire, and pneumatic design standards.
  • Manage project timelines, budget constraints, and contractor collaboration for the installation process.
  • Verify that all new installations are appropriately sized and integrated within the current pneumatic and electrical system designs.
  • Conduct system commissioning to ensure operational readiness and compliance with regulatory standards.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of facility technicians, janitorial staff, security staff and other contracted support teams.
  • Coordinate the activities of outside contractors for larger facility projects or specialized tasks.
  • Create a collaborative environment that ensures effective communication between all departments, including production, safety, engineering and contract services.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Industrial Technology or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, with a focus on large manufacturing operations.
  • Expertise in facility systems management, including electrical systems (switchgear), chiller systems, plumbing and pneumatic system design and sizing.
  • In-depth knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and other relevant regulations.
  • Proven experience leading facility projects, including the installation of manufacturing lines and new equipment.
  • Strong project management skills, including timeline development, budgeting, and cross-team coordination.
  • Proficiency with CAD software for reviewing and approving facility layouts and mechanical/electrical designs.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, OSHA regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration across various teams and with external contractors.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of energy management practices and sustainable design for industrial settings.
  • Experience with automation and smart building systems.
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred.
  • Supervisory or Team Leadership Experience preferred.
