The Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Swimming and Diving coach in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive
NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving program in a manner that upholds the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Athletics and the University.
A successful candidate for Assistant Coach will assist with essential coaching duties including but not limited to coaching, recruiting, teaching, skill development, scouting of opponents, and practice planning; evaluate performances, and make recommendations to the head coach regarding individual participation. This role provides administrative and programmatic support to the head coach. The Assistant Coach also has recruiting responsibilities to identify, encourage and evaluate application and acceptance of student athletes at
UNC Asheville in accordance with the Atlantic Sun Conference, the
NCAA and University policies as assigned by the head coach. |

Required Education/Experience/Skills |
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience. Prior collegiate coaching or playing experience. |
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills |
Master's degree preferred. Three to four years of previous collegiate coaching experience.
CPR &
AED Certified or
USA Swimming Water Safety. In addition, desired qualifications include demonstrated skills in developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic and academic success at the
NCAA Division I level. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Under the direction of the head coach, the assistant coach will assist in all phases of a
NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving program in a manner that upholds the philosophy and objectives of the Athletics Department and the University including but not limited to; on/off-campus recruiting, assisting with practice and conditioning activities, skill development, scheduling of opponents, academic monitoring of student-athletes, fundraising, public relations, adherence to rules compliance, participation in clinics and summer camps and professional expectations. |
