Summary:

The Provider Peer Review Specialist coordinates the process of departmental and divisional Peer Review including the management of quality triggers, for all members of the Medical Staff. The specialist prepares, conducts and closes activities identified for Peer Review. The specialist report and maintain data related to outcomes of Peer Review activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the coordination of The Joint Commission required On-going Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) review related to clinical competence.
  2. Assures establishment of methodology for successful review, data collection and reporting to appropriate Medical Staff Leadership and Medical Performance Improvement Committees.
  3. Assures compliance with required review, reporting and file maintenance of individual Quality files for all members of the medical staff.
  4. Assists with facilitating departmental and division Mortality and Morbidity meetings.
  5. Review conduct and complaints for Peer Review indicators.
  6. Assist with continual improvement of clinical practice and processes through collaboration with the Quality team.
  7. All other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

  1. Experience in Project Management or related experience is preferred.
  2. Experience in coordinating a large multidisciplinary project with proven outcomes required.
  3. Experience and training in Performance Improvement preferred.
  4. Experience working collaboratively with all levels and disciplines within an organization is required.
  5. Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, time management and organizational skills required.
  6. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, required. Midas experience preferred.

Education and Experience
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Healthcare is required; Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Certification: Ohio RN licensure required
  3. Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 3 years is preferred.
