Job Description The 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent's responsibilities are to support the Golf Course Superintendent with the supervision of construction and maintenance of the golf course, along with the existing and surrounding grounds. The 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent prepares appropriate reports and retains relative records, as well as, leading the Golf Maintenance Department in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent and First Assistant Superintendent. The 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will set an example for the entire department by leading by example, showing sound character, dedication, integrity, respect, and honesty. Responsibilities 1) Must be well groomed and be well-mannered, greet guests and employees when encountered, and show appreciation to the guest for being at the resort, show willingness to help guests and employees at all times.
2) Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs golf course irrigation system, including valve-in-head sprinklers, valves, quick couplers, valves, radio control system, and field controllers. Develops work lists of repairs and makes adjustments to system based upon needs of the course. Performs routine operational checks on irrigation system. Makes repairs in professional manner. 3) Evaluates course and programs irrigation system for operation. Uses central computer, stand alone pedestals, and radio control systems to manage water needs of the property. Uses discretion in performing these programming tasks. 4) Develops and maintains irrigation work and project lists. Prioritizes repairs and work lists. Prepares and places parts orders. Maintains working inventories of all parts. 5) Develops drainage work lists and project budgets. Installs, cleans, and repairs drainage. Performs routine cleaning and adjustment of systems. 6) Hand waters greens, tees, and fairways. Requires an advanced understanding of turf needs, proper watering practices and timing. 7) Applies chemicals and fertilizers to resort properties in appropriate manner. Responsible for training of other team members assigned to similar tasks. Waters in chemicals or fertilizers after application. Completes application logs following applications in accordance with resort and state requirements. 8) Calibrates application equipment. Uses hand spreaders, push spreaders, hand sprayer, riding sprayer. 9) Maintains application records, weather data, equipment calibration, and product inventory. 10) Leads other team members to achieve high quality results in an efficient manner. Evaluates work quantity and quality of maintenance crews. Ensures daily workload is completed efficiently and properly. 11) Support other departments whenever possible through direct or indirect support. 12) Maintain confidentiality of Omni Hotels information. 13) Enforces all policies and guidelines laid out by Omni Bedford Springs Resort and Spa. 14) Communicate on a consistent basis with the Head Golf Professional to foster a professional and positive relationship with the entire Golf Operations staff. 15) Conducts snow removal operations for the resort on a rotational basis. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
