Position Overview

The Director, Supply Planning Operations will oversee and optimize our supply chain processes, ensuring seamless product availability to support our laboratory operations, product development, production and manufacturing operations. This role will drive SIOP (sales, inventory, & operations planning), direct purchasing, and end-to-end supply planning strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of supply chain best practices, demand & supply planning and inventory optimization in a highly regulated environment. They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that enhance supply chain resilience, improve lead times, and mitigate risks related to raw material sourcing and production constraints. Additionally, they will play a pivotal role in cross-functional collaboration, ensuring supply plans align with commercial forecasts and evolving business needs. This leader will bring a data-driven approach to supply planning, leveraging analytics and technology including SAP IBP, SAP PP/DS, and other advanced ERP tools to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and implement supply planning strategies, incorporating SIOP processes to balance demand, inventory, and capacity planning.
  • Oversee direct purchasing operations to secure critical materials, ensuring optimal inventory levels and mitigating supply risks.
  • Partner with R&D, laboratory operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely material availability for production and product launches.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize cost savings.
  • Oversee and manage inventory levels to ensure optional stock availability while minimizing excess inventory and stockouts.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems to track stock movements, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Develop and maintain safety stock policies to ensure reliable service levels while avoiding overstocking.
  • Work closely with finance, regulatory, quality, commercial, and pipeline teams to align supply strategies with business objectives.
  • Utilize advance planning tools and data-drive insights, including SAP IBP, to optimize forecasting, inventory control, and capacity planning.
  • Develop contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions and ensure business continuity.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing supply planning team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Ensure daily operations comply with all documented quality system requirements, driving improvements and clarity where needed.
  • Develop and foster strong partnership relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure business needs are clearly understood and communicated, enabling teams to be recognized for providing world class support within the organization.

  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 15% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, or field related to essential duties of this role; or Associate's degree and 2 years of experience in-lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • 12+ years of experience in supply chain or a field related to the essential duties of this role.
  • 7+ years of direct leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience operationalizing advanced supply chain planning and scheduling tools, preferably SAP IBP S&OP, Response & Supply, Inventory Optimization, and PP/DS.
  • 3+ years of experience relating to GMP facilities, equipment and processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and/or cGMP structured environments.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with Project Management principles and practice.
  • Professional working knowledge in basic and advanced continuous improvement methodologies/ principles such as LEAN Six Sigma and/or Practical Process Improvements (PPI).

Salary Range:

$161,000.00 - $257,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
