We are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to join our Clifton, NJ team. This successful candidate will have experience with motor, pump, and/or generator repair and may support other sites within the North Region as needed for more complex issues. This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to drive the development and implementation of innovative repair services and electrical designs. This position will be responsible for performing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to develop engineered solutions, providing technical support for both in-shop and field repairs, and providing technical support and consultation to the Clifton sales team. Unmatched Customer Service:
- Provide primary engineering and technical support to the Clifton, NJ team, with additional support to other service centers in the North Region as required
- Ensure that IPS solutions consistently meet customer expectations and adhere to industry standards
- Collaborate in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and action plans
- Ensure compliance with operating policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Leverage Continuous Improvement Process Solutions (CIPS) tools, meetings, and processes to enhance quality and productivity for customers
- Enforce safety protocols, ensuring adherence to safety regulations in all engineering and shop activities

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering expertise to support and optimize daily operations, addressing complex engineering challenges.
- Collaborate with customers on-site, offering field support for failure analysis, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
- Conduct thorough Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on equipment failures to drive corrective actions and improvements.
- Create detailed technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for fabrication, construction, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Lead initiatives for continuous process and procedural improvements, including the development of tooling and equipment.
- Develop in-depth expertise in motor, pump, and generator operations and repair methodologies, aligned with IPS's technical capabilities.
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Establish and refine design standards and best practices to maintain high levels of quality.
- Prepare failure analysis reports, providing critical technical insights and recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and quality project delivery.
- Support capital improvements, including the integration of new manufacturing assets into the shop.
- Travel up to 15% as needed to provide customer and field engineer support.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical motor repair, pump, generator and/or gearbox repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and developing solutions for equipment failure.
- Expertise in the design, manufacturing, repair, testing, and diagnostics of electric motors, generators, gearboxes, and pumps.
- Proficiency in advanced diagnostic techniques for troubleshooting rotating equipment (e.g., motors, pumps, gearboxes).
- Strong knowledge of vibration analysis standards (e.g., API 610, 617, 670, ISO 1940, 10816) and bearing types, lubrication systems, and relevant standards.
- Ability to deliver technical solutions to both OEM and aftermarket design issues.
- Technical support experience for service centers, field service teams, and sales teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; CAD, SOLIDWORKS, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills are a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical data.
- Knowledge of industry standards related to rotating equipment, such as IEEE, NEMA, IEC, API, ISO, and ANSI.
- Experience in fabrication, machining, and manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
