Scope

Boise Cascade is seeking a skilled and experienced IT Governance Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in governing our IT and AI systems, working collaboratively with IT departments and business stakeholders to administer them effectively, ethically, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

IT Governance:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive governance strategy and vision, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate IT and Compliance departments to create, build, and regularly update the company's IT Governance policies.
  • Manage compliance with internal and external IT policies, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and monitor IT projects and systems for data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate IT risks.
  • Create and deliver IT governance training and awareness programs for employees.

AI Governance:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine AI governance frameworks, including policies, procedures, and best practices for AI development and deployment.
  • Establish mechanisms for implementing AI solutions ethically, adhering to relevant regulations and ethical standards.
  • Update policies as necessary to remain compliant with AI-related regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, GDPR, CCPA).
  • Develop processes to monitor and mitigate biases in AI systems, ensuring fairness and transparency.
  • Identify and address risks associated with AI technologies, including data privacy, security, and ethical considerations. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Continuously monitor AI systems to ensure they operate within the defined governance framework and adjust, as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise AI training.
  • Maintain an inventory of AI use cases and software across the organization.
  • Oversee compliance with the company's AI attestation process.
  • Validate that third-party AI functionalities align with established governance standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, NIST, ITIL).
  • Working knowledge of IT-related disciplines (e.g., SDLC, DevSecOps, DevOps, CI/CD).
  • Experience with data management, including data modeling, data classification, and master data management, and their application to zero-trust environments.
  • Knowledge of ecosystems, regulations, standards, and controls.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability, security, and lifecycle architectures.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with diplomacy as a key soft skill.
  • Organized, inquisitive, and innovative problem solver with the ability to interpret facts quickly and accurately.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to multitask and see the big picture.
  • Up to date with technology advancements, with a proven track record of preventing, detecting, and remediating risk.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) or CGEIT (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT) are highly desirable.
  • 5-7 years of experience in IT management or a related field.
  • Proven experience with IT governance, risk management, and compliance.
