(KMI) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented candidate to join our team as a Materials Specialist. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality asphalt materials by evaluating inventory, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting plant operations. The Materials Specialist will work closely with the production, quality control, and sales teams to maintain efficiency and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset. They should be able to analyze material needs, anticipate supply chain challenges, and collaborate effectively across departments. This position requires excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This role is located in our Garfield Heights, OH office (south central Cleveland area). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintaining accurate records of materials, ensuring stock levels are sufficient to meet production needs. * Assessing material levels and needs using all available tools, including drone operation. * Regularly monitoring inventory and ensuring materials are stored properly. * Maintaining accurate records of material movements and other relevant data. * Investigating and resolving material-related issues, such as shortages, damages, or delays. * Working with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials. * Ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and procedures related to material handling and storage. * Work with the sales department on quoting, supply bids, bid bonds and timely delivery. * Works with the team on daily scheduling. * Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent (bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus). * Some coursework or knowledge in supply chain, logistics, construction materials, or a related field is beneficial. * Basic understanding of construction materials (asphalt, aggregates, etc.) or willingness to learn. * Familiarity with inventory management or material handling is a plus. * Ability to read and interpret technical data or specifications. * 1-2 years in the asphalt industry preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Proficiency in using inventory management software and techniques. * Experience with data entry or inventory tracking systems is helpful, and the ability to analyze information and assist in material planning is critical. * Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). * Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, colleagues, and supervisors. * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with different teams (operations, sales, quality control, procurement). * Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. * Ability to identify and resolve material-related issues. * Accuracy in record-keeping and material handling. * Ability to perform calculations related to inventory levels and material quantities. RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Regional Sales Manager and closely interacts with all levels of team members within the organization. WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: 100% of duties are performed in a temperature controlled, fluorescent-lighted environment. About 90% of time is spent working with a computer. 10% of the workday is spent working with management and associates. Others impose 100% of deadlines. Some lifting between 0 -20 lbs. is required.
