Maintenance Mechanic 1

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Maintenance Mechanic Associate I assists in maintaining all equipment and facilities at the distribution center with the objective of becoming fully trained and qualified for a maintenance mechanic position.

Shift Schedule: Onsite Monday - Friday from 1:50pm to 10:20pm.

• Assists maintenance mechanics in completing routine and preventive maintenance for all warehouse and office equipment to ensure proper operating conditions. Equipment includes conveyors, racking, lighting, security, forklifts, material handling equipment, fire protection, and plumbing systems.

• Maintains logs of all preventive and breakdown maintenance performed on conveyors, forklifts, and fire protection systems.

• Performs light janitorial duties and other duties as assigned.

• Completes tasks assigned by maintenance supervisor and/or manager. Ensures that all tasks are completed in a safe, timely, and correct manner.

• Maintains positive open lines of communication with all management, staff, and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.

YOU HAVE

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience. Some positions may require 2+ years of technical training.

• Typically requires less than 2 years of general experience.

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn in a fast paced maintenance environment.

• Possess good working knowledge of practices regarding hazard communication, chemical usage, material safety data sheets, lock out/tag out, emergency evacuation procedures and emergency generation procedures

• Possess intermediate computer skills

• Ability to read, write, and speak English

• Mental ability to conduct interpersonal interactions with company personnel Possess good verbal communications skills

• Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb stairs and use ladders, sit and stand for extended periods of time, and regularly lift/carry up to 40 pounds

• Ability to use a variety of hand and powered tools, and possess an aptitude for mechanics

• Ability to move freely through the distribution center

• Occasionally lift/carry over 60 pounds

• Ability to cope with a stressful work environment and cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks

Work Environment Requirements:

• Distribution Center: Typical warehouse environment, regularly works around moving mechanical parts in conditions that include exposure to heat, cold, dust, odors/fumes, noise.

• May operate computer, other equipment/tools or powered warehouse equipment.

Other Physical Requirements:

• Requires ability to be continuously stationary or moving about.

• Communicate with others to exchange information.

• Frequently adjust/move items up to 50 lbs.

• Occasionally operate vehicle/equipment. Detailed physical requirements document on file.
