Role Overview:

The Strategic Capabilities Finance team at New York Life plays a vital part in ensuring accurate expense accounting and proficient data management within the finance domain. This role requires a strategic thinker and leader who understands Finance, Apptio System from implementation to integration, a passion for process improvements, and can look at the bigger picture and coordinate all financial information flows from the ledger to month-end process, annual planning/monthly forecasting, and all related reporting. Experience with Bill of IT implementation and Technology Business Management is a great plus

What You'll Do:

Monthly Financial Management of Apptio Systems, Processes and Related Interfaces:

  • Data support and maintenance of Apptio for all activities related to month-end processes and monthly/quarterly forecasts
  • Manage, analyze, and reconcile Technology and Strategic Capabilities costs to SAP ledger and ensure all data issues have been resolved before populating Apptio
  • Operationalize data monthly by importing, transform, configure, and rationalize data from systems of record such as General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Portfolio Management, Service Management, Centralized Application Repository, and Assets.
  • Lead the coordination of various cross functional teams to ensure all the requirements for uploading data into Apptio have been met on time. The teams include offshore team and budget coordinators within Strategic Capabilities
  • Assess current data structures, flows, and processes, and compile a detailed repository outlining data and workflows.
  • Maintain data related to projects, accounts, cost centers, financial hierarchy, and reporting.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Responsible for delivering and maintaining dashboard experiences, operational reports, and analytics to inform data-driven decisions.
  • Manage and support monthly close activities for reporting and data analytics.
  • Prepare data for Apptio and Tableau dashboards, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Partner with Finance offshore and the Tech PMO team for accurate expense data validations.
  • Prepare data for ad hoc financial analysis, management, and metrics reports.

Projects and Process Improvement:

  • Lead and manage the on-going implementation of Bill of IT & Data. Understand all dependencies and business requirements to ensure the team is working on the desired output. Manage the third-party vendor being used to implement Bill of IT
  • Drive the consolidation of non-Tech data into Apptio to ensure all spend under Strategic Capabilities can be maintained under one system (Apptio) and standardized reporting can be generated from the system
  • Collaborate with Finance and others to solve complex problems; use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions. Partner in process improvements to eliminate redundancies, standardize procedures, and implement best practices.
  • You will serve as a bridge between the various stakeholders and communicate technical components of the data process to non-technical stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including automation of manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and maximize the end-user dashboard experience.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and various departments within Finance and Technology to deliver project related work.

What You'll Bring:

  • 15 plus years of Finance and System implementation experience in large/complex organizations, preferably in Tech Finance with exposure to system implementation such as Apptio
  • Advanced knowledge of technology costs, underlying drivers for allocations of these costs, and relevant experience in managing/building systematic Bill of IT processes
  • Ability to build strategic business partnerships within Finance and cross functional teams. Should be able to work effectively with a variety of internal and external partners and be able to provide valuable expertise and insight regarding the requested data.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of data with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and flexible environment on multiple concurrent projects where team members are based in multiple locations.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred, a master's degree would be a plus
  • Deep Appito knowledge a must have, with knowledge of GL system and Tableau is a plus.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel functions, features, and formulas to organize, analyze, and manipulate data.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:$137,500-$237,500

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Sales bonus eligible:No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
