Primary responsibility supporting high quality early childhood programming and oversight at 1-2 centers. Supervise, support, and provide resources and training to staff in the areas of child development, curriculum implementation, staff development, classroom/behavior management, record keeping. Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of program activities and parent meetings. Identify and support the special needs of children (disabilities, social/emotional health, dual language learning) with assistance from specialists and coaches. Network and collaborate with leadership teams and professionals in the community. Provides leadership and accountability for designated areas.

.885FTE includes 40 hour work week for 46 weeks each year (approximately 1840 hours) from last week in July to 2nd week in June. Annual contract from July 1-June 30 at .885 FTE. Some nights and weekends.




Responsibilities

(40) % A. Coordination and oversight of high-quality early childhood programming for children to stimulate approaches to learning and growth in social emotional development, physical development, language, literacy, and communication, mathematics, creative arts, science and technology and social studies through strong adult-child interactions, inviting learning environments, consistent daily routines, and active, hands-on learning experiences.

A1. Increase staff knowledge of Early Childhood Development in areas to include relationship-building, engaging parents, social/emotional development, positive guidance, curriculum planning, instructional strategies, authentic engagement of children, learning domains, classroom set-up, Head Start learning outcomes and school readiness goals, observation and assessment, being an effective member of a center team and DAP. Ensure plans support school readiness goals of the program.

A2. Analyze child outcomes data and develop plans to increase staff performance, child success, and center professional development needs.

A3. Assess classroom environment and adult-child interactions using internal checklists, Program Quality Assessment (PQA), Classroom Scoring Assessment (CLASS) and other assessments to improve practices of assigned staff.

A4. Develop a plan of professional development that includes specific goals that relate directly to teacher expectations as outlined in the Teacher Performance Evaluation Indicators, the CLASS, the HighScope PQA, Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT) and other such assessment tools the program may identify.

A5. Hold reflective conversation meetings with staff at least twice a month. Basis for these meetings will be the information gained through observations, video-taping, modeling and co-teaching experiences as well as the information gained through CLASS and PQA. Solve problems, proactively generating ideas and solutions as necessary. Initiate opportunities for learning about High/Scope Curriculum, Conscious Discipline/Pryamid Model strategies, and child development.

A6. Support classroom staff in providing individualized education for children with social, emotional, and behavioral developmental needs.

A7. Review child information to determine if individualization, observation, or referral is needed. Support teachers in identifying and referring children with possible special education needs.

A8. Support classroom and center staff in supporting child's medical, dental and nutritional health. Health Action plans, medical and dental home and follow up, and implementing the program's nutritional requirements.


(30)% B. Participate in leading a team of professionals with a strong vision for quality in line with the mission and vision of the program. Coordinate parent involvement and collaborate in the community.

B1. Provide training and support to staff to embrace change, resolve conflicts, and embrace quality initiatives. Plan center staff meetings to include communicating program information.

B2. Build a positive, caring and supportive relationship with staff through recognizing their existing strengths and capabilities and engaging them in reflective discussion regarding their growth and development.

B3. Engage families in their child's development by encouraging staff understanding of the importance of parental involvement, play a vital role in planning and implementing family events, and addressing parents' concerns.

B4. Collaborate in the community to advocate for children and families, stay abreast of community needs and services, network with other early childhood professionals.

B5. Participate in recruitment, enrollment, and attendance of children in the program. Report attendance issues.


(30)% C. Supports operations of site and supervision of staff.

C1. Responsible for the daily operation of the center in compliance with state and federal regulations and program policies.

C2. Create and implement contingency plans re staff absences, center budget and reallocations, non-federal share record keeping, transportation routing, and volunteers.

C3. Monitors and assesses staff performance. Provide specific, ongoing feedback to staff. Completes appraisals and professional development plans annually.

C4. Oversees and approves payroll and timesheets.

C5. Models appropriate time management and organization skills.

C6. Ensures safe, high quality facility through regular monitoring, completion of monitoring checklists, and requesting maintenance and repairs.


Qualifications
Required:


  • Minimum BS Early Childhood Education or BS relevant degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children.



  • Experience/knowledge in leading, mentoring and supporting effective high-quality child services.





  • Experience in implementation of standards and regulations.



  • Demonstrated knowledge of implementing early childhood curriculum and appropriate observational assessment methods in early childhood.



  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and familiar with Google Drive.




Preferred:


  • Head Start experience.



  • Knowledge and experience with developmental screenings and work with children having disabilities or impairments.



  • Knowledge of Family Services philosophy.



  • Experience/knowledge in areas of human resources, management and supervision.



  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Child Care licensing regulations and Head Start performance standards.



  • Skills and knowledge to access appropriate community resources;



  • Knowledge of High/Scope curriculum, Pyramid Model and Conscious Discipline



  • Proficient in use of Child Plus and Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG)
