COE Assistant Dean in the College of Education is responsible for recruiting and providing comprehensive support services to students, with a focus on ensuring their successful progression through their academic programs. This position requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders within and outside the college.
Job Description
Recruit, Develop, and Deliver Instructions and Advise Students: (35%)

  • Coordinate with partner high schools to recruit and facilitate seamless transitions for students into the College of Education.
  • Provide individualized academic advising and support for Call Me Mister Program and Diverse Learners Program students to ensure they meet all requirements for undergraduate degrees and teacher certification.



Collaborate with Faculty to Develop Educational Pathways: (15%)
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to design and implement educational pathways for high school students thereby creating seamless educational pipelines for interested future educators.
Grant Development and Submission: (25%)

  • Identify funding opportunities and develop grant proposals to support programs and initiatives within the College of Education.
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to ensure grant proposals align with institutional priorities and funding guidelines.

Program Development and Evaluation: (15%)

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student success, retention, and graduation rates, (i.e., Call Me MiSTER, Diverse Scholars, Teacher Camp, etc.).
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of student support programs through data analysis, surveys, and feedback mechanisms, and make recommendations for program enhancements.

Other duties as assigned: (10%)

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Education to support the overall mission and goals of the college.
  • Participate in college and university committees, meetings, and events as needed.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in student progression and support within higher education.
  • Provide supervision for COE field experiences and external constituents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or related field; doctorate preferred.

* Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
* Grant writing and project management experience preferred.
