The Plumber 1 role in the Energy Resource Management Office (ERMO) within the Department of General Services (DGS), offers an exciting opportunity to work in the maintenance, inspection, repair, replacement, and installation work on plumbing systems, sewer line systems, or distribution lines that are both exterior and interior to facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Plumber 1, you will perform preventative and corrective maintenance and routine repairs on domestic water and sewer systems. All work is completed by following department wide established procedures; referring to equipment installation manuals, engineered drawings, or sketches; as well as adhering to any applicable codes or regulations. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on stormwater systems and HVAC piping systems. Responsibilities include:
- Replacing water filters
- Exercising relief valves, control valves, and manual valves
- Manually operating pumps and lift stations to validate equipment and piping component operation
- Documenting gauge and/or meter readouts for equipment trending
- Greasing bearings on pumps, motors, or other rotating assemblies
- Validating gauge and thermometer accuracy using test instruments and replacing failed components as necessary
- Tightening all electrical connections and lugs to proper torque
- Opening clogged pipes and traps
- Testing for leaks by filling pipes with water or air under pressure and checking with a gauge for all pressure loss

- Full-time employment
- This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
- Experience replacing/repairing water mains
