Position Description:
Purpose
The Baranger Lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin is looking for a research technician to help facilitate research in the lab. The lab aims to advance our understanding of the causes and consequences of substance use, with a focus on adolescent and young adult populations. We use multiple methods, including multi-modal neuroimaging, behavioral tasks, and ecological momentary assessments. This position offers an excellent training environment for those seeking entry into graduate programs. Beyond the primary duties, there will also be opportunities to lead independent projects within the scope of the lab's research themes, co-author publications, and present at conferences. Candidates with a background in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or related fields, are especially encouraged to apply.
Primary Functions
- Recruiting, screening, and scheduling research participants.
- Data collection, including computerized behavioral tasks, interviews, online surveys, ecological momentary assessments, and assisting MR technologists with MRI collection.
- Data management, cleaning, and analysis.
- Collaborate with other team members and assist in training new personnel.
- Participate in lab meetings and evaluate/interpret data.
- Lab administration, including assisting with IRB protocols and grants, expense/finance management, and maintaining lab website and lab documents.
- Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of lab space and specialized laboratory equipment.
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies, equipment, and materials needed for lab operations.
- Ensure compliance with biosafety and laboratory regulations.
- Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the Principal Investigator.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of psychology and/or neuroscience, statistics, documentation, and records management.
- Ability to analyze data, think critically, and summarize data in writing as well as in group presentations.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and troubleshoot protocols.
