Position Summary:

The Manager of Sales Compensation, North America is responsible for leading a team of 1-2 analysts for North America Sales Operations. Responsibilities include owning the sales compensation design process, and all administration aspects including sales compensation calculations, accruals, payout submissions, audit support, and analytics. The role must ensure all deliverables are timely, accurate, and concise. Cross-functional collaboration with Commercial Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, IT, and Business Operations is required. Also responsible for sales territory design processes and mapping tools, as well as the sales quota setting process.

General Responsibilities:

Sales Compensation Plan Design & Administration

  • Work cross-functionally with commercial sales leadership, Finance, HR, and other internal business partners to create sales compensation plans which align to strategic initiatives.

  • Review plans for effectiveness and recommend improvements.

  • Manage team of individual contributors who calculate and administer the sales compensation plan systems and tools, and ensure payout calculations are accurate.

  • Administer sales compensation plan document creation, deployment, and administration.

  • Provide internal/external audit support as needed.

Sales Compensation Accruals and Payouts

  • Deliver on-time and accurate monthly accruals, cash forecasts, and payouts.

  • Resolve any sales compensation questions or disputes and escalate to direct line manager as needed.

Data Reporting and Analytics

  • Develop and deploy impactful data analytics which provide key business insights into sales compensation plan effectiveness and/or identify key performance trends.

  • Analyze sales compensation payouts to ensure they remain within budgets.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvements and escalate discussions to appropriate leaders.

System Administration

  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of sales performance management (SPM) systems, to include sales compensation systems and Territory mapping software.

  • Partner with IT on projects to ensure stable inbound data and new data requirements.

Process Improvements

  • Continuously monitor sales compensation systems (SPM suite) for accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  • Suggest improvements where necessary and proactively implement improvements within role's span of control.

  • Document workflows and standard processes.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years creating and administering sales compensation plan designs, to include data & financial modeling

  • Experience managing a sales operations team (or equivalent management experience)

  • Hands-on experience administering sales performance management (SPM) system(s) like Xactly Incent, Varicent, Callidus/SAP, etc.

  • Data Design, Mining, Analysis, Visualization, Predictive Modelling

Software:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (primarily Excel) and business intelligence (BI) Tools (PowerBI; Tableau; Qlik)

  • Salesforce CRM

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Math, Statistics, Human Resources, Computer Science, or a related field.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Pay Transparency:

A reasonable estimate of the annual base salary for this position is $110,000-$150,000 + discretionary annual bonus. Pay ranges may vary by location.
