Position Summary:

Develop and maintain an effective and competitive intercollegiate women's wrestling program through the
recruitment of quality student athletes and successful coaching of those individuals. In the recruitment
effort, incumbent will be a representative of the total institution, with all of the factual knowledge and
sensitives required by that representative.

Responsibilities

Coaching



  1. Understand and develop plans for student-athlete success on and off the competition surface.
  2. Plan, organize, and execute all in-season practice sessions, competition plans, and team meetings as well as off-season conditioning programs.
  3. Collaborate and plan with the staff to implement strength and conditioning for women's wrestling student-athletes.
  4. Continually evaluate each individual student athlete's needs and short/long term goals.
  5. Plan, organize and execute all in season meetings, practice sessions, team travel and off-season meetings/workouts.
  6. Provide leadership to assistant coaches to manage the staff and have clear goals and expectations.
  7. Create an environment that places value on student-athletes and staff safety, mental health, and overall well-being.
  8. Continually evaluate each individual student athlete's short- and long-term goals.


Recruiting



  1. Recruit and retain academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
  2. Follow recruiting guidelines of UW-Oshkosh, the (WIAC) Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference and the NCAA.
  3. Work collaboratively within the university to plan, organize, implement, and follow up on an extensive ongoing recruiting effort through written, verbal, and personal contact with student-athletes and their families.


Administrative



  1. Devise schedule for competition including all travel arrangements for all away meets (including transportation, lodging, food).
  2. Plan, organize, and execute recruiting responsibilities for the women's wrestling program.
  3. Oversee compliance with the NCAA and (WIAC) Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules and regulations. Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, and policies of all governing bodies (UW-Oshkosh, WIAC, NCAA).
  4. Establish and execute a successful fundraising plan for the program and execute fundraising projects when appropriate.
  5. Promote the program, athletic department, and the university through camps, clinics and speaking engagements.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with UW-Oshkosh Wrestling alumni and friends.
  7. Maintain responsibility for all program expenditures and revenues.
  8. Monitor student-athletes in their academic performances to assure timely progress to degree completion.
  9. Take part in professional development and educational activities to learn new ideas, concepts, and changes that occur in wrestling at the conference and national level.
  10. Attend department meetings, organizational efforts, and departmental activities.
  11. Manage and communicate with the coaching staff and maintain a positive collaboration with support staff.
  12. Create and maintain an environment that is respectful and accepting of all. Set clear guidelines for expected behaviors and clear methods of reporting inappropriate behavior.
  13. Administer all athletic department VISA accounts including training to ensure are compliant in recording transactions and following University and State guidelines for the VISA accounts. Responsible for communicating all procedures staff needs to follow and ensure proper administration of the accounts.
  14. Process all athletic department cash advance requests for travel. Primary administrator and department auditor for all (TES) expense reports for the athletic department.
  15. Additional duties as assigned for secondary duty.
  16. Demonstrate familiarity with national trends and best practices related to undergraduate retention programs and practices, academic support services, and campus climate issues.
  17. Endorse and support other sports within the athletic department and other duties as outlined by the Athletic Director.


Qualifications
Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years Collegiate Wrestling Coaching experience.
  3. Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to become a university authorized driver at the time of appointment.


Preferred:

  1. Master's degree.
  2. Collegiate Women's Wrestling Coaching experience.
  3. Demonstrate the understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
  5. Demonstrated experience in managing a budget.
  6. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Demonstrate a familiarity with national trends and best practices, undergraduate retention programs and practices, academic support services and campus climate.
