Work Schedule
Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday | 8:00 am - 7:00 pm with a (1) hour meal break.

In addition to the standard work schedule, the incumbent would be on-call for emergency matters that occur outside the standard work shift.
On-call responsibility: Friday @ 10:00pm - Monday @ 5:00am.

Occasional need for additional hours to support mandatory special events like Football and Commencement that may not be during the regularly-scheduled work hours.

Mandatory Position

This position is designated as mandatory and is expected to use sound judgment with respect to maintaining personal safety given their individual circumstances, but also to make a substantial and good-faith effort to reach the work site in a timely manner when adverse weather or other conditions affect normal campus operations.
Primary Purpose of Position
The incumbent will serve as the weekend Operations Supervisor for the Parking and Transportation Services department. This position will help supervise Parking and Transportation-related programs and services supporting the UNC Charlotte campus community. Among the list of supported services are Niner Paratransit, a point-to-point disability transportation service for eligible program members; Niner Transit, a fare-free transit bus service that transports community members around campus; standard parking enforcement and special event parking; campus hotel parking assistance; a shared-bike and scooter program; chartered, fixed-route and special event transportation, on and off campus; bicycle locker rentals.
The incumbent will supervise weekend operations and staff, and will coordinate the day-to-day activities, helping to ensure all program standards are effectively and efficiently met. They will also be the primary point-of-contact for customer service related issues and will manage account information related to the various programs supported. As scope-of-work continues to expand, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Assistant Director for Parking and Transportation or their designee.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Graduation from a four year college or university and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Job Duties
The incumbent will support all Parking and Transportation programs and services on campus during their shift.

  • Supervise all day-to-day operations, programs and services supported by the Transportation unit, including Niner Transit, Niner Paratransit, standard and special event parking operations, e-scooters and pedal-assist bicycles, bicycle lockers, chartered and special event transportation requests, bus advertising, and all other transportation-related services.
  • Coordinate with the operator of Niner Transit regarding operational changes that may affect the campus community. Provide direction to vendor leadership to help ensure service levels remain adequate for campus needs.
  • Utilize computer programs to log passenger transfer requests and dispatch service vehicles according to schedule needs
  • Monitor chartered transportation services; serve as a replacement vehicle operator when schedule vacancies exist.
  • Review and respond to emails and phone calls from coworkers and customers in a timely manner
  • Issue citations for vehicles in violation of established parking regulations
  • Inspect immobilized vehicles as a result of a parking enforcement action to help ensure devices remain secured and have not been tampered with.
  • Inspect all Parking and Transportation Services equipment and resources on campus to ensure proper levels of service are available to campus community members.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact during scheduled shifts and serve in an on-call capacity during weekend hours that you are not physically on campus

Other Work Responsibilities

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Graduation from a four year college or university and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience is preferred
  • 2+ years customer service experience
  • Computer proficiency to support email, internet navigation, data input, record management, and experience using Google Suite products.
  • Professional experience with campus transit and/or chartered ground transportation.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (class A or B) with P endorsement preferred'
  • Valid DOT Medical Card preferred.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid, state-issued driver license (required)
