Title: Logistics Technician

Location: Hybrid - Must Live Within Commuting Distance of Lansing, MI

Purpose: This position will provide a full range of support activities specifically for the Community Outreach Unit within the Toxicology and Response Division of the MDHHS Environmental Health Bureau. They may be asked to support the section and division secretaries, as well as other units within the section, as requested.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide program and project support for Community Outreach Unit staff, including, but not limited to, printing, mailings, managing calendars, meeting coordination and implementation, andlogistical support.
  • Compile and maintainoutreach metrics and tracking records.
  • Manageoutreach materials and inventory to ensure regular supply is available.
  • Coordinate the divisions attendance at exhibitor booths for conferences.
  • Record and transcribe meetings.


  • Attend outreach events as needed to interact and engage with community members to provide information and strategies to prevent/mitigate adverse environmental health outcomes.


  • As requested, provideadditional support for the Community Outreach, Community Engagement, and Health Education Units.
  • Maintain a positive, strong, credible, professional, and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant to MPHI projects.
  • Always represents the best interests of MPHI and MDHHS.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience: No experience required. Experience in administrative support functions preferred.

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, including the mail merge function, and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work under stress and handle changing priorities
  • Willingness to learn scientific terminology and concepts
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by state and federal laws
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Hybrid with aone-day-a-week visit to the office in Lansing to maintain outreach inventory and complete other tasks as needed.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position supports project staff, services, and operations of the Community Outreach Unit and the Community Education and Outreach Section. This position has a direct impact on the quality of services provided by MPHI to MDHHS.
