PT-Mental Health Counseling Intern

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Functions:




  • Provide career, mental health, and crisis counseling to San Jacinto College students.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to connect students with services.
  • Plan and implement mental health awareness, social services, and educational events for students.
  • Deliver classroom presentations and facilitate workshops for students.
  • Participate in weekly supervision meeting as dictated by CSWE, university and college policies.



Additional Opportunities:




  • Attend conferences/workshops provided by San Jacinto College.
  • Represent SJC with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods.
  • Ability to maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of student
  • support services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and
  • electronic documents.
  • Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted.
  • Ability to travel to meetings, other campus locations, and administrative offices.
  • Ability to maintain counseling records as required by federal and state
  • professional counseling regulations.
  • Knowledge of FERPA laws and regulations.
  • Ability to communicate and present to large audiences.
  • Ability to maintain emotional and professional composer in time of crisis.
  • Knowledge and working practice of the NASW or LPC code of ethics.



Education and Experience:



  • Applicant must be in second year of a MSW program or enrolled in a practicum/internship course of an approved counseling program.



Required Education:



  • Must be enrolled in a MSW Program accredited by the CSWE or CACREP approved counseling program and enrolled in an practicum/internship course.



Opportunity for remote work:

This position has limited opportunity for remote work arrangements with

appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs

of the College.

Salary Grade: CLERI

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
