PT-Mental Health Counseling Intern
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide career, mental health, and crisis counseling to San Jacinto College students.
- Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to connect students with services.
- Plan and implement mental health awareness, social services, and educational events for students.
- Deliver classroom presentations and facilitate workshops for students.
- Participate in weekly supervision meeting as dictated by CSWE, university and college policies.
Additional Opportunities:
- Attend conferences/workshops provided by San Jacinto College.
- Represent SJC with outside educational institutions, internal departments, and professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods.
- Ability to maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of student
- support services.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and
- electronic documents.
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted.
- Ability to travel to meetings, other campus locations, and administrative offices.
- Ability to maintain counseling records as required by federal and state
- professional counseling regulations.
- Knowledge of FERPA laws and regulations.
- Ability to communicate and present to large audiences.
- Ability to maintain emotional and professional composer in time of crisis.
- Knowledge and working practice of the NASW or LPC code of ethics.
Education and Experience:
- Applicant must be in second year of a MSW program or enrolled in a practicum/internship course of an approved counseling program.
Required Education:
- Must be enrolled in a MSW Program accredited by the CSWE or CACREP approved counseling program and enrolled in an practicum/internship course.
