Maxar is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join the Extract, Transform, Load segment of the KTIS program. In this role, you will be supporting mission critical applications and will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our critical databases. Principal Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain scalable cloud-based database management systems such as Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, and MySQL.

  • Develop database observability tools and optimize database for performance.

  • Develop and perform database backups and recovery procedures.

  • Implement and maintain database security measures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.

  • Implement and maintain database replication at different security levels.

  • Develop and maintain high availability solutions.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date database documentation.

  • Create and maintain disaster recovery documentation.

  • Collaborate with developers and platform engineers.

  • Assist with database migrations and upgrades in cloud environments based on OpenStack/OpenShift.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI clearance. Must also be willing and able to obtain a CI Poly.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience as a database administrator for Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, or MySQL.

  • Must be willing to work 5 days a week in the office.

  • Experience with the planning, documentation, backup, recovery, transition or migration, and recovery of database.

  • Experience tuning and optimizing database performance by optimizing queries, indexes, schema designs, or hardware configurations to minimize latency and maximize throughput.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • 3-5 years of experience with cloud-based database solutions such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle.

  • Experience with Linux, Python, PowerShell, Java a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in designing and developing complex near real-time and/or batch data integration solutions using ETL and integration tools.

  • Documenting the configuration and database design for each of the deployed environments.

  • Experience with planning, designing, documenting database solutions for emerging requirements to provide enhanced capabilities to the users.

In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within California, Colorado, Hawaii, and the Washington, DC metropolitan area is:

$108,000.00 - $180,000.00

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
