Library Services Technician (P/T)

This part-time position contributes to the delivery of library services within a team environment, closes the Library following standardized protocols, performs general library duties including handling circulation and routine reference transactions, shelving and shelf-reading, participates in library events and programs, and performs other duties as assigned by the immediate manager.

Staff Duration: Part Time 12 months

Part-time position: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 12 pm-5 pm (20 hours/week)

1. Assists with opening or closing the Library following appropriate protocols, including performing security checks to clear the Library at closing.

2. Covers customer service points in the Library.

3. Assists patrons with locating resources and with information and routine reference requests; participates in providing routine virtual reference services.

4. Acts as liaison to patrons requiring more in-depth or complex reference information and refers requests to appropriate professional staff members.

5. Circulates library materials and perform reserves, holds and overdue materials transactions, including collecting and tracking fines for overdue materials, blocking and unblocking patrons? accounts in College accounting systems.

6. Maintains communications with various Library and College departments regarding service questions, problems, emergency situations, and patron issues.

1. Associate's degree

2. Prior work experience, preferably in a library or client service environment.

3. Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with a database software platform helpful.

1. Bachelor's Degree

2. One year of experience in an academic library or other information setting.

3. One year of experience working with a Library ILS system such as Sirsi Dynix Symphony.
