Summary: The Marine Engineer Warrant Officer 881A / 88L Technical Instructor/Training Development Services will provide support to the US Army Transportation School, Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCoE) MITD-Simulator Operator/Technical Instructor Support Services.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide technical instruction and training development support in all 881A1/2 Marine Engineering Officer Warrant Officer and 88L10-40 AIT, PME and functional training courses.
- Training follows a well standardized course, up to and including basic college undergraduate equivalent level, in the principles of a field such as Army vessel maintenance.
- Must be capable of presenting all 881 and 88L blocks of instruction in a classroom. Present instruction by "physically" conducting training and with "hands-on" scenarios utilizing engineering room equipment and ship's engines.
- The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining an instructor to student ratio of no more than 1:12 for up to 12 students.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be knowledgeable in Army Marine Engineering Systems and Army maritime operations. Courses or units of instruction cover fundamentals and basic skills of an occupation such as Army vessel maintenance incorporating all aspects of that occupation to include Maritime Diesel Engine diagnostics and repair, Maritime Welding, Maritime Electrical, Maritime Refrigeration, Maritime Hydraulics, and Maritime Damage Control, and Maritime Supply Management.
- -Must be able to physically conduct simulator operator/technical instructor/writer duties and in the stated subject area when required in a classroom, simulator, live training aid, and/or ship environment.
- Standing for extended periods of time on hard decks or floors exposed to heat and cold conditions is common when conducting live training events.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
- Proficiency in the following Microsoft software programs, which will be furnished as part of the workstation for performance to include software updates as provided: Word 2013; Excel 2013; PowerPoint 2013; and Outlook 2013.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of prior military service as a senior marine engineer (enlisted or warrant officer) who has a demonstrated experience and knowledge training and performing engineering duties onboard an Army watercraft.
- Initial Military Training (IMT) and Professional Military Education (PME) courses required for the specific MOS.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
