Summary: The Labor Marine Engineer Warrant Officer 881A / 88L Technical Instructor/Training Writer will provide support to the US Army Transportation School, Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCoE) MITD-Simulator Operator/Technical Instructor Support Services.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct comprehensive training sessions for students in marine engineering and related subjects.
- Ensure compliance with TRADOC Regulation instructor-to-student ratios
- Maintain an instructor-to-student ratio of no more than 1:12 for up to 12 students, and no less than 1:4 for up to 4 students.
- Develop and update training materials, lesson plans, and instructional guides.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of training content.
- Operate and manage maritime simulators to provide realistic training experiences.
- Integrate simulator training into the overall curriculum to enhance practical learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be able to physically conduct simulator operator/technical instructor/writer duties and in the stated subject area when required in a classroom, simulator, live training aid, and/or ship environment.
- Standing for extended periods of time on hard decks or floors exposed to heat and cold conditions is common when conducting live training events.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
- Instructors must possess outstanding communicative skills (verbal & nonverbal).
- Proficiency in the following Microsoft software programs, which will be furnished as part of the workstation for performance to include software updates as provided: Word 2013; Excel 2013; PowerPoint 2013; and Outlook 2013.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant knowledge acquired through experience/training that is equivalent to education/training, USCG license, and Maritime/Cargo Handling technology degree program.
- Maritime candidates must have ability to be vetted as meeting the qualifications as a vessel watch officer through the National Maritime Center (NMC) for acceptance as a U.S. Coast Guard approved instructor.
- Proven experience as a Labor Marine Engineer Warrant Officer (881A / 88L).
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
