Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the development, review, and implementation of company Quality Management System policies, procedures, plans, and work instructions. Directs the Quality Department salaried and union workforce to support company goals and objectives. Communicates the QMS requirements to MMC department heads and frontline supervisors. Makes decisions on quality acceptance/rejections if disputes arise. Obtains regulatory approval of Weld Procedures, Nondestructive tests, Calibration Procedures and product testing methods. Directly communicates with Customers and Regulatory Bodies and reports to Executive Management any deficiencies and proposes corrective actions. Attends formal Program Reviews and provides input on quality metrics as determined by product test results. Aides all departments in root cause determinations and corrective actions. Has responsibility for development and delivery of training programs to all MMC workers to ensure compliance to NAVSEA, ABS, USCG and customer contract requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Responsible for the development, review, and implementation of company policy, procedure, plans, and work instruction.
  • Ensures hulls are built in accordance with contract and regulatory standards and maintains documentation of compliance. Obtains customer and regulatory approvals as required during construction.
  • Responsible for establishing priorities and coordinating inspections within the shipyard.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, planning, execution, and documentation of internal audits to ensure QMS and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for communicating with executive and management personnel, and general workforce. Communicates with Regulatory Bodies, Customer Representatives and other agencies for compliance with requirements.
  • Maintains a commitment to and promotes the company vision statement and the Quality Policy of the organization.
  • Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Excellent leadership skills including project management.
  • Directly supervises up to 30 union and exempt employees representing a variety of trades and disciplines.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Overseeing interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.
