Financial Reporting Supervisor

Seaboard Corporation, a Fortune 500 diversified and vertically integrated agribusiness and ocean transportation company, currently has an opening for a Financial Reporting Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assist with the quarterly and year-end SEC reporting process, including 10-Q, 10-K and Proxy supporting schedule preparation or review and serve as a key editor of related documents.
  • Research and analyze technical accounting issues for significant transactions or presentation matters, including business combinations, derivatives, foreign currency, pensions and variable interest entities.
  • Provide guidance to the corporate accounting team, division accounting personnel and certain nonconsolidated affiliates as various questions arise.
  • Author various accounting consideration memos analyzing new accounting pronouncements, Company transactions or other presentation matters.
  • Review non-GAAP policies and evaluate errors in financial statements.
  • Monitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules.
  • Serve as the liaison for Corporate Accounting internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Execute special projects and other ad hoc needs.
  • Co-manage the Company's risk assessment evaluation with Internal Audit.
  • Support Seaboard Corporate's ESG financial reporting efforts.
  • Manage the Company's accounting for various alternative investments primarily in real estate.
  • Administer the Company's Corporate Accounting Sharepoint sites and consolidated lease software platform.
  • Serve as a backup to the Corporate Senior Accounting Manager's role.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, including public accounting firm experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Able to travel to domestic and international sites, as needed.

  • No full-time direct reports at this time, but dotted-line responsibilities on projects.


Working Environment / Physical Demands



  • This position is located in Merriam, Kansas with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.
  • Includes a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.
